Steve Lockhart was born on November 7, 1957, to Lonnie and Ruth Lockhart. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Lockhart Sr., and his brothers, Lonnie Lockhart Jr. and Carl Lockhart.
In his youth, Steve attended Sunday School at 23rd & Delmar and Bostick Temple Church of God in Christ, where his parents were devoted members. He was educated in the St. Louis Public School system, attending Lexington School and Beaumont High School.
Steve worked various jobs throughout his life until his health began to decline. In his later years, he devoted much of his time to caring for his beloved mother—supporting her financially and maintaining their home. His dedication to family was unwavering.
Steve loved spending time with his family, especially during holidays and birthdays. He looked forward to every Friday—fondly known as “Food Day”—when he, his sisters Sandy and Pat, their mother Ruth, niece Janelle, and nephew Jason gathered together for a feast. It brought him true joy to treat his loved ones and create those memories.
He also enjoyed spending time with his favorite cousin, Randy Carter, whom he cherished like a brother. Steve was especially grateful for the love and kindness shown by his cousin Lorraine Fitzpatrick and her late husband, Joseph Fitzpatrick. Their support and the time they spent together provided Steve with comfort and stability during a difficult chapter in his life, particularly after the devastating loss of his father and brother just six months apart.
Outside of family, Steve found joy in watching sports, following current events, and reading his Bible.
On June 13, 2025, Steve’s life came to a sudden and sorrowful end. As the only son and remaining brother, his absence leaves a deep and lasting void.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Ruth Lockhart; his sisters, Gail, Sandra, and Patricia Lockhart; nephew, Jason Givens; niece, Janelle Givens; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Steve will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered—always.
