Michael Lewis, sr. was born on November 1, 1956, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to the union of Thomas and Frances Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: David Simmons, Andre Lewis, and Alvin Lewis.
Michael received his education in the Saint Louis Public School System. He was united in marriage to Valerie Douglas, who also preceded him in death. To this union, two sons were born: Michael Lewis, Jr. and Frederick Lewis.
Michael gave his life to Christ at an early age. He loved praising the Lord and sharing the message of Jesus’s love with others. His favorite phrase, “Praise the Lord,” was one he often repeated — just like his mother.
He was a dedicated worker, spending fifteen years at the coal mine before transitioning to a career in truck driving, a profession he had a deep passion for.
Let us remember the good days and the joyful times we shared with Michael. Let us not forget that infectious smile that lit up every room. He will be truly missed, but his spirit will always remain in our hearts.
Michael departed this life on May 13, 2025, in Alma, Arkansas.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Michael Lewis, Jr. and Frederick D. Lewis; two grandsons, Kamrin D. Lewis and Reggie Lewis; two sisters, Sylvestine Moore and Charlene Moore; three brothers, Thomas Lewis, Jr., Demetrice (Ester) Lewis, Sr., and Quintin (Louise) Lewis, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
