Marchelle Jones

Ms. Marchelle Jones was born on November 6, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late David Gibbs and Cleo Jones. She was the fourth of six children: Kenneth, David, Shirley, Bridgette, and Wanda.

Marchelle accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

She was a kind, gentle, and caring woman whose love for others was truly unconditional. Marchelle had a God-given gift for nurturing children, and she provided a special kind of care to many — both within and beyond her community.

Marchelle had two children: one daughter, Janet Jones, and one son, Darnell Jones. Darnell preceded her in death.

She worked at Hostess Bakery for over 25 years before retiring. Following her heart and dreams, Marchelle went on to open her own child daycare center, where she lovingly cared for many children over the years.

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, God called Marchelle home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Jones and David Gibbs; her son, Darnell Jones; three siblings: Wanda Morgan-Robinson, David Jones, and Kenneth Jones; one niece, April Jones; and two nephews, David Morgan and Darrick Lewis.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Janet Jones; two siblings, Shirley Simpson and Bridgette Morgan; five grandchildren: Eugene, Jermel, Martell, James, and Diamond; and ten great-grandchildren: Nina, Jermory, Shane, Jaxson, Meliyah, Melanie, Donell, Jericho, Julian, and Auriella.

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who will remember her with love, admiration, and gratitude.
