Louise Murphy Burnside was born on June 10, 1934, in Whiteville, Tennessee, to her devoted mother, Anna Belle Holmes-Harvey. As the third eldest of eight children, she embodied strength and resilience. Louise was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Belle Holmes-Harvey; three brothers, John Wesley Harvey, Gaston Harvey, and James Howard Harvey; two sisters, Augusta Harvey Roach and Bennie Mae Harvey; a beloved son, Larry Murphy, and her humble and adorable niece, Shirley Ann Harvey Dobbins.

At the age of 19, Louise relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, to begin a new chapter in her life. She became a member of Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Robert Fulton Davis. Louise remained committed to her church community, even after the leadership mantle was passed to Reverend Davis’s grandson, Pastor Michael Fulton. Jones, Sr. She was a dedicated member of the Mass Choir and volunteered during repasts, serving meals to family and friends during times of bereavement. Louise attended church services regularly until her health began to decline. Despite her battle with Alzheimer's disease, her praise and worship remained unwavering. She could still recall the lyrics of songs rehearsed and sung by the choir. Her favorite song, “My Soul Has Been Anchored in the Lord”. Louise Murphy Burnside has been recognized as a charter member of Friendly Temple Church.

July 15, 1965, Louise was united in holy matrimony to Allen Burnside who also precedes her in death. For several years, Louise worked alongside her husband at their Television Repair Shop located on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, St. Louis, Missouri. Louise got an itch and decided to try her knack at waitressing and landed herself a position at St. Louisans well known restaurant, Miss Hullings. She was skilled at it, which led her to Lashley Restaurant on Franklin Avenue and later gained employment at Bethesda Health Group, where she retired in 1999. During this time, Louise received her High School Certificate on June 29, 1972. Even after retirement, Louise found something else to do. She went back to work and joined the Sodexo environmental service team at Saint Louis University Hospital. After many late-night shifts, Bishop Michael Jones, Sr. insisted that she come work part-time for Friendly Temple, only to retire completely and just volunteer.

After a beautiful and long life of 92 years, God called Louise home to rest in His arms on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:38 p.m. at EverVella Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Swansea, Il.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her godly chosen goddaughter, Wanda Bailey Gregory of East St. Louis, IL; sister, Mable Harvey Williamson of Memphis, Tennessee, and brother, Willie (Olivia) Harvey of Chattanooga, Tennessee, her nieces, Betty Benton, Bonnie Humphrey, and Wilma Brooks, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and especially her Friendly Temple Church Family.
