Fred Douglas was born on January 24, 1932, to the late Cowen and Edna Douglas in Saint Louis, Missouri.
He received his education in the Saint Louis Public School system and graduated from Washington Tech High School. Fred was united in holy matrimony to Ruby Howard on August 29, 1953, and they shared sixty-three years of marriage. Ruby, along with their daughter Valerie Lewis, preceded him in death.
Fred was a dedicated worker, first employed as an upholsterer for Pullman Train Co. before taking a position with the U.S. Postal Service, where he delivered mail until his retirement after 32 years.
A devoted family man, Fred was full of kindness, generosity, and reliability. His loved ones could always count on him whenever they were in need. He was also an avid television watcher who enjoyed western shows and movies. Another of his favorite pastimes was spending time with friends and family, and he was often thought of as a “grill master” during cookouts. His smile was infectious, and he credited his parents and Catholic upbringing for his strong morals.
He will be truly missed, but his love and memory will remain in our hearts.
Fred is survived by his son, Mark Douglas; granddaughters, Markita (Douglas) Moore and Paris Douglas; grandsons, Michael and Fred Lewis; sister, Constance Douglas; niece, Martha Douglas; and nephew, Marlon Douglas.
