Calvin Burns

On August 3, 2025 Calvin Lee Burns passed away at the age of 75. Calvin Burns born was born to Jim and Mary Burns on November 5, 1949, in Heth, Mississippi. Calvin attend Vashon High School and later on received a Hvacr Certification at Ranken Tech. In time he later married Doris Jean Simpson and later Carolyn Johnson.

Calvin worked at Chrysler for a few years and later at Harris Stowe State College as a Maintenance Technician and also Supervisor for over 30 years before retiring. He had a knack for fixing just about anything no matter how difficult or challenging the task was. A real Jack of all trades.

And when he wasn’t at work, you could find him at times doing work for the friends in the Kingdom Hall and just about all over.

He was also one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and had the privilege to serve as Ministerial Servant. Mr. Burns hated the heat; within seconds of his  ministry, his shirt would be drenched -  but he would still carry on.

Calvin had three brothers: Johnny, Lemon or Shane, Eddie Burns.

He also had 4 sisters Mary Burns, Laura Gant, Louise Whitfield and Gertrude Car; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Calvin is survived by four children: Kevin, Luvernia, Wallace and James Burns.
