Obituary

Amanda Miley-Gillespie was born on January 19, 1942, in Monroe (Holly Ridge), Louisiana, to the late Candis Butler Miley and Lee Lenzy Miley. Raised in a loving family, she received her early education in Richland Parish and graduated from Eula D. Britton High School in Rayville, Louisiana, in 1960. Ambitious and determined, she continued her studies at Robinson Business College in Monroe and began her professional career as a clerk at Saint Francis Hospital, where her dedication, work ethic, and compassion for others were evident early on.

In 1968, Amanda relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where she built a long and fulfilling career with the City of St. Louis-Family Courts Juvenile Division. Through her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering sense of duty, she touched many lives before retiring after many faithful years of service. She was blessed with a loving marriage to her late husband, Cliff W. Gillespie, with whom she shared a deep bond of devotion and companionship.

A woman of strong faith, Amanda served faithfully on the Mother Board at Christian Love M.B. Church under the leadership of Reverend Larry Boyd, Sr., where her wisdom and nurturing spirit made her a pillar in the church community.

On November 27, 2025, she peacefully departed this life, surrounded by her beloved grandson, Jacque Jr., and other close family members, having lived a life marked by grace, strength, and quiet resilience.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Cliff; her son, NaAnthony Perkins; her grandson, Antonio; and her siblings Laura Mavis Miley-Williams, Johnnie Jewel Miley, Louis Miley, Doris Miley-Jenkins, and James Miley.

Amanda leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Jacque Miley, Sr. (Rennae'); her grandchildren Jacque Miley, Jr. (Te'Aura), Amanda Miley, Jacquita Miley, Ashonna Miley, Napier Perkins, Merlene Perkins and India Thomas; her brother, Prince Hubbard Miley; her niece, Judith (Judy) Moore; her bonus grandson, Kyle; and the entire Ervin family-Lee Sr. (Minnie), Kasha (Marquis), Desiree, Nikki, Lee Jr., and Wayne. She also leaves behind lifelong friends Bettie Jones-Collier, Alvaria Jaquess, Deneen Taylor, Anthony Love, Corey Bryant, and Rickie Allen, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Amanda's life was one of devotion to family, faith, and service, and her legacy continues in the love she shared and the many lives she touched.
